My room was big (double and single bed), comfortable and very clean and had all the facilities you would expect and the food in the restaurant was lovely (I recommend the Seafood Chowder). Couple this with the fact that it's 20 minutes or so from the airport by car, 15 minutes walk into the City centre and also directly opposite Croke Park Stadium and it's a total win. I planned a trip to Dublin for a special adventure for my five-year-old granddaughter, along with her mother, my daughter. Our itinerary was based on the interests of a young child, We stayed at Drury Court Hotel in city center upon arrival and loved walking out the door to endless pubs serving delicious food. I had fish chowder five times - each better than the previous bowl. Also, we enjoyed our close proximity to so many sites on our list. Taxis were inexpensive and we had the added bonus of friendly, jovial taxi drivers. Our final night was spent at Clontarf Castle-Hotel for my five-year-old granddaughter to experience her princess fantasy. I brought tiaras for her, her mother and me although the latter two of us only wore ours in our room. Clontarf is a magnificent castle Hotel and I recommend at least a night there for families traveling with girls. We used our day at Clontarf to go to Howth, a sea coast village and beautiful area. Aside from seeing some of the traditional sights, we focused on child-centered activities including the Viking Splash Tour, River Liffey tour, Viking-Medieval Interactive museum, High Tea at the Shelbourne Hotel, candy decorating and factory tour, Grafton Street (often), and our favorite, the Celtic Music and Dance show. The dinner was quite good and the show outstanding. Our trip was fun and free of the stress that I feel on guided tours. I made advance reservations for the hotels and must-do venues like the Celtic dance show, tea at the Shelbourne, etc. Otherwise, we winged it and the five-year-old loved Dublin!
Hotels close to the city centre in Dublin are very expensive. I chose the Charles Stewart Parnell for 2 reasons. The first was the lower price. I was only in Dublin for one night and wanted to be close to the city centre. It certainly was that. Secondly was the name of the hotel -named after a true hero in Irish history. However there was no other connection to the history or importance of this political hero. The staff was not overly friendly. The room was the bare minimum in terms of size. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. However noise levels were troubling. Doors had to be slammed to close - not a good feature when you are woken up during the night. Conversations could be heard even at regular levels. This was a very small - no frills type of room. If you know this when you book there will be no surprises.
We enjoyed just about everything about Dublin...the museums, parks, architecture, food & people. The only thing that was terrible was our accommodations! Steer clear of the Kildare Street Hotel! No ventilation, walk up only, tiny rooms with no space, windows overlooking roof tops with garbage containers, totally useless staff who could answer no questions, did not even know about the hotel! This review is showing frowning faces on my review for sights in Dublin, but it should be smiling faces all around! Dublin is so easy to get around and lots of fun, full of culture and architecture, authentic cuisine, & museums. Kiilkenny? Gaeol (old jail) is a great sight.
Dublin has something for everyone. Historic Places, all types of tours to fit any budget and pubs to please any age. One of the best places to eat is Murray's Pub. Authentic food, traditional Irish music and dancing 7 days a week. The Gate Hotel is the perfect time place to stay because of its comfortable rooms, friendly staff and central location. You can choose public transportation, taxi or tour bus just a few steps away.
We were only there 3 days and wished we'd been there longer. Dublin features a fabulous public transportation system that links you just about anywhere you would want to go. Use the Leap Card! Our first day, we grabbed lunch at a Dawson Street cafe (Cafe En Seine). Go for the stunning setting -- the food was fine, but the service bordered on rude and soured the experience for us. Best evening meal was at Matt the Thresher - a 9 minute walk from our hotel. Check it out for gorgeous food, impeccable service and a beautiful interior. Don't miss: Irish dancing at O'Shea's Hotel (it's traditional, by locals who will chat with you may even invite you to take part, as we did); the Book of Kells (Trinity College); the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology. We squeezed in an afternoon/evening trip out to the seaside town of Howth for walking and dinner, as well as a 13-hour trip out to the west country. This took up an entire day but it was well worth it. Sadly - we left so much left undone there that we have already decided that we must go back again, and soon.
jameson distillery is great as well as the writers museum. Bunsen is a great place to have a burger :) Dublin isn't that big so if you sleep in an hotel close to the city center everything is easy to reach by walking.

Although outside the main city centre, this excellent hotel is a lot cheaper as a result. The Ballsbridge area where it is situated is very nice and is a short walk from Sandymount train station that gives brilliant access to Dublin. It is also situated just off a main road meaning buses and taxis are commonplace. The hotel also benefits from being a short walk away from four traditional pubs and a number of restaurants if you want to save some money and stay local. Also an excellent base if you’re off to the Aviva Stadium

Beautiful, spacious, clean rooms with excellent amenities, including in-room nespresso machines, WiFi, fast room service, nice lobby bar, and delicious buffet breakfast. Hotel is next to beautiful Herbert Park which we loved exploring, and there are fun pubs (check out The Bridge 1859!) and restaurants within walking distance. Although outside the city center, the neighborhood is beautiful, quiet and away from a lot of the tourist traps. We felt we got to experience more of the day to day Dublin life around here.

Everything! It was an amazing hotel, with excellent staff that made you feel at home and that would help you with all your necessities. I had an issue with my card and they were able to help me with transportation to the airport. They went up and beyond and I cannot appreciate them enough for what they did for me. Next time, I visit ireland, this is the hotel I will book always!

The hotel feels like home away from home. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the breakfast is delicious. The Rockford lodge us about a 20 minute walk from city center and the 4 and 7 buses stop directly in front of the hotel. There are nice restaurants and pubs around the corner too. It is charming and we will stay there again next time we are in Dublin!

Fantastic stay, couldn’t fault it. Comfortable staff very friendly and welcoming! Stayed for my boyfriends birthday and they put balloons and banners up for me to make it extra special! The hotel was close to a LUAS pickup spot that takes you to the train if you need to travel to farther areas in Ireland. The airlink bus transportation to the airport is right across the street and the drop off from the airport is just steps away. Nice rooms. Only negative thing is there is no elevator.

The staff was very accommodating. Our party arrived just after the crippling snowfall in Ireland. The hotel remained full but the hotel had an apartment that we were able to use. Breakfast was really good the next morning.
