voco St. David's Cardiff (formerly The St David's Hotel & Spa), New House Country Hotel, and Holiday Inn Cardiff City got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Cardiff.
Cardiff is a gem of a city with lots to see and do. The central shopping district alone is so big it will take you all day to get through it, and no automobiles to doge in the process. St. David's Hall is one of the best concert halls for acoustics in the whole world. The museum has a world-class collection of Impressionist art that is a must see - and it's free!
Cardiff is amazing! Just having the castle right there all the time gives it a special feeling. The covered Market is incredible with everything imaginable, great food and baked goods. But the best is the Natural Museum! I spent two afternoons there and did not finish all there is to see. If a person likes the science behind evolution this is a must see. It is impossible to describe the beauty of the parks. One can easily spend several afternoons there. The people of Cardiff couldn’t have been more friendly. The have a great pride in their country and their language and they are very willing to share it with visitors. Cardiff is not a huge city but it certainly feels like it is.
Has changed immensely from 2012. At first sight it was now a park, a stadium, a Castle and a huge shopping mall. Bus connections to the Valleys and beyond appear regular. The bay area is equally 'jazzed' up. A good place for nightlife and shopping! Could do with an less well hidden and actually advertised Info bureau (inside the Castle gift shop by the way). But understandable as everyone but a handful of dodos like me have wondrous smartphones with which to look this stuff up! Suggest a small sign at the Bus Station and (if there currently is not) rail station so advising incoming tourist of whereabouts of said Tourist Info. Bute Park and Sophia Gardens beautiful for walks and cycling. The Animal Wall has been well maintained and must rank as the most photogenically pleasing and unusual aspect of this city.
Cardiff is an amazing city, in the city centre there's a fantastic range of shops, cafes and restaurants (Personally I'd recommend checking out Red Hot World Buffet near Sports Direct). There's PLENTY TO DO with the Castle, the Mini Golf and the various Escape Rooms companies. There's also plenty of opportunities to watch high class SPORT as we have the Principality Stadium, Cardiff City FC Stadium and the historic Arms Park site. There's a huge range of bars and clubs and the GAY scene on Churchill Way is fantastic. The city is beautiful, if you remember to look up you'll see some amazing old ARCHITECTURE above the street level shop fronts, and make sure you check out the arcades spanning between the main thoroughfares full of tiny artisan boutiques. Inside some buildings (such as the Prince of Wales pub), they've retained the old architecture which is pretty special to see. The city is packed full of things to see but you can easily walk from one side to the other in 20 mins making it a fantastic spot to explore. Nearby to Cardiff you can find BEACHES in Barry, and to the North is Caerphilly (15mins on the train), which hosts the largest 13th Century CASTLE in Europe - well worth a visit! Beyond the offerings of the city, the Welsh people are a special breed. They're outstandingly WELCOMING and brimming with Welsh pride. Cardiff is absolutely ONE FOR THE BUCKET LIST of any traveller, a unique little city, reflective of the nature of the country as a whole.
Cardiff is a beautiful city and I spend a lot of my time there. It is a good place to catch National Express Coaches and I like the Backpackers I stay in. When I have a couple of days off between my traveling I always head for Cardiff.
Cardiff is a busy bustling city, not too big and easy to walk around. Shops in every direction to suit every pocket, small arcades dotted around with smaller independent shops sit nicely in the larger landscape of familiar brand names. There are places of interest, theaters, pubs and eateries in the centre of the city and the bay where you will find the millennium centre, within a short bus or taxi ride. Music venues such as the CIA and the national stadium, which could equally be hosting a world renowned music artist or an international sporting event, are central and serviced by lots of hotels within easy walking distance. I love Cardiff, it's great for shopping, music, sport, a night out or sightseeing.
